UNITREE GATEWAY - 2017
JACOB ABBEY
Uni-tree gateway is part of a larger master plan for a redesign of the Curry Place area at the University of Manitoba. The master plan was a collaboration between four Environmental Design students; Jacob Abbey, Yujia Fan, Anna Jones, and Michael Nelson. Each of us chose a section to design in further detail, the result of my selection being Uni-tree Gateway, a new entrance to the University of Manitoba campus.
THE NEW COMMONS - 2018
JACOB ABBEY - JORDAN CANTAFIO - JUSTIN MUNONYE
The New Commons is a group project with the goal to make new use of the Canoe Club Golf course in Winnipeg, MB. The project consisted of one month of site analysis work ranging from historical to morphological and two months of design. Consisting of three distinct areas, The New Commons brings community gardening, refreshment, and recreation to an underused urban golf course.
HUGO PARK - 2018
JACOB ABBEY
This redesign of Hugo Park in central Winnipeg was part of a design studio in my Bachelor of Environmental Design's final year. This studio sought to design attractive dock locations that will boost interest and use of the Winnipeg river taxi. In a city that treats the river like its back lane, the goal was to connect the people back to the water.
THE NODE - 2019
JACOB ABBEY - PAULA CAMILLE SANCHO
The final project of my undergraduate degree was part of the NCC's Capital Riverfront Challenge 2019 in Ottawa and Gatineau. Over the remnants of a freeway access road, "The Node" is a riverfront park designed to minimize impact and maximize use. The NCC intended to build the winner of the competition, so it was my first project with the possibility to be realized. While preparing this design to be judged, I made great strides in my photo rendering abilities.
